2012 Alumni Board of Governors Membership Nominations

Thank you for your interest in nominating a candidate for the Alumni Board of Governors. Nominations are now closed. New members will be notified of selection after April 30.

Board members are chosen on the basis of alumni leadership, a history of service to the University, and professional talents and experience. Board members serve a three-year term, with a mutual option for a second three-year term. Board members do not need to live in Chicago to serve, but should be able to commit to attending meetings in person twice a year in Chicago and participating on committees or task forces.

The Alumni Board of Governors (ABG) is a 30-member representative body of the entire University alumni community, including the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools, and ideally reflects the diversity of alumni. New members of the Alumni Board of Governors are appointed through an annual nomination and voting process.

The purpose of the ABG is to advise the Alumni Association on matters of interest to the alumni community. Committees of the Alumni Board of Governors target issues that include working with alumni around the world, encouraging interaction between students and alumni, and developing programs and communications to strengthen the bond between the University and its alumni. The Board also recognizes and celebrates alumni achievement through the annual Alumni Awards.
