Lawyer

Helen Probst Mills, AB’86, has been a loyal alumna, dedicated volunteer, and regular donor to the University of Chicago since her graduation in 1986. In the 1990s, while living in London, she joined forces with a business school alumna to establish a local Chicago Booth alumni chapter. She worked to ensure programming was open to all alumni before a University-wide club was established.

She brought this experience with her when she moved to North Carolina and helped establish the first alumni club for the state, of which she is currently president and has previously served as copresident. She is a member of the Alumni Schools Committee and has been involved with her College class council, serving as program chair for her 25th reunion and as cochair for her 30th reunion. She was a member of the Volunteer Caucus advisory committee in 2011 and the College Advisory Council in 2012–15 and has served as a chair of the Chicago Society. She was elected to the Alumni Board in 2013 and currently serves as the cochair of the awards committee.

She and her husband, Stuart Mills, JD’88, created the Mills Odyssey Scholarship Fund to support the College’s mission of allowing the best and the brightest young scholars to pursue their academic dreams.

Probst Mills is a lawyer whose area of practice is predominately focused on the legal work supporting derivative and foreign exchange transactions, specifically insolvency and regulatory capital issues. She also serves as a director on the Sandhills Community College Foundation Board, a friends board that supports the mission of the college. She is also on the board of the Northern Moore Family Resource Center, a community nonprofit organization working on the issues of early childhood education and community revitalization. She has three children, including a Class of 2018 student in the College.
