Gerardo de la Peña, MPP’01, is dedicated to public service. Following his graduation from the University of Chicago in 2001, he has been committed to the development of Mexico as well as providing more opportunities for his co-nationals to attend the Harris School of Public Policy. He was one of the five architects of the Chicago Fellowship in Mexico and part of the negotiations team that helped Chicago Harris and the Mexican National Council on Science and Technology reach an agreement to offer up to 15 full scholarships per year. De la Peña also serves as one of the youngest members of the Board of “México: ¿Cómo vamos?” to drive Mexico’s development.

Gerardo de la Peña is married to Marisela González, and they have one child together, Andrea de la Peña. He and his family enjoy travelling and learning about new cultures. One of their yearly goals is to visit a new country.

De la Peña will be joining the Alumni Board to represent Chicago Harris.
