Louis Fogel, PhD’00, JD’03, is a double alumnus who embodies the University of Chicago’s commitment to paving new paths and exploring alternative careers. Fogel is a partner in Jenner & Block’s patent litigation and counseling practice, where he litigates matters in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, biological drugs, medical devices, and consumer electronics. Since graduation, Fogel routinely speaks to science graduate students and postdocs about nontraditional career paths. Beyond advocating for the University and the numerous opportunities that are available to its graduates, Fogel serves on the boards of UChicago Hillel (cochair) and the Public Interest Law Initiative. In his free time, he can be found on the sidelines coaching the basketball and soccer teams of his children, Alex, Jonah, and Zachary. Louis Fogel is married to Tamar Karsh-Fogel, JD’00. On the Alumni Board, he serves as the liaison to the Physical Sciences Division.
