As president of the Alumni Club of Atlanta, Jeff Haas, AB’82, led his group in winning the inaugural Alumni Club of the Year Award. He also served as communications chair for his club. Haas collaborated with Continuing Education by leading the inaugural Digital Alumni Book Club, engaging alumni from around the world with online videos about Awake in the Dark: The Best of Roger Ebert. He presented book awards to deserving Atlanta high school juniors on behalf of the alumni office and the University of Chicago Press, including the award of fellow alumnus Norman Maclean’s A River Runs Through It and Other Stories. He has interviewed prospective College students on behalf of the Alumni Schools Committee.

Haas is a senior content developer at ADP, a Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), and a past president of STC’s Atlanta chapter, which received two Chapter of the Year Awards under his leadership and for which he won the Distinguished Chapter Service Award. His short story collection Welcome to Sugarville, written under the author name J. J. Haas, was a Silver Winner in the Mystery and Suspense category of the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards Program. He has been an instructor for Emory University’s Creative Writing Certificate Program. Haas lives in the suburbs of Atlanta with his wife, Melissa, and two West Highland white terriers.
